Abstract

The intent of this paper is to analyze the practice of, and suggest modifications for, the celebration of the Liturgy of the Hours in the Benedictine monastic community of Marmion Abbey. This analysis and subsequent recommendations are based on this writer's understanding of the pastoral situation of Marmion Abbey and of the general history and development of the practice of the Liturgy of the Hours in the Latin Church and in Benedictine monasticism in particular. To this end, the paper includes a brief survey of the history, practice, and theology of the Liturgy of the Hours with particular attention given to details relating to the usage at Marmion Abbey.
