Abstract
This paper analyzes the story of the Anointing at Bethany as found in John 12, and the washing of the disciples' feet by Jesus as found in John 13. When the texts are examined together, a theology of the Eucharist as service is understood between the texts. This paper follows the methodology of a close textual reading, the historical critical method and relies on the input of other scholars in the formation of the argument.
