Volume 9, Issue 1 (2016)

This year’s volume is dedicated to the faculty and staff at St. John’s School of Theology and Seminary who have devoted their lives, their time, and their being to help shape, form, and welcome aspiring theologians, liturgists, and ministers - old and young, lay and religious, ordained and non-ordained, Catholic and non-Catholic - to the halls of our school. This year we honor in a special way those who are retiring or have retired: Bernie Evans, Sr. Helen Rolfson, OSF, Sr. Irene Nowell, OSB, and Mary Beth Banken. We also honor those whose time with us has come to its completion and are on to new horizons: Sr. Mary Forman, OSB, Kim Melby Tollefson, Jeannie Kenevan, Annie McGowan, Rebecca Berru Davis, and Jakob Rinderknecht.

In this Year of Mercy, Our Holy Father Francis reminds us that “Situations can change; people can change. Be the first to seek to bring good.” As we all transition to a new season in our lives that brings new people, new settings, new responsibilities, new challenges, new hopes, and new fears, may we too heed the call “to be the first to bring good.”

May we all come to know the mercy of God. And may we all respond to it generously.
