Abstract

This personal narrative reflects on the loss of childhood pets and the lessons learned through grief, love, and healing. It explores the deep bond formed with two family dogs, the heartbreak of losing them to illness, and the emotional struggle of moving forward afterward. Through welcoming another dog into the family, the story reveals how love can continue without replacing the past. Ultimately, the piece conveys the idea that although loving a pet comes with the pain of eventual loss, the joy, companionship, and memories they bring make that love worthwhile.
