Abstract
This presentation explores the call to lend a faithful presence to digital culture, especially on social media platforms. Benedictine spirituality is a tradition deeply rooted in the Word. From this foundation we can reflect on what it means to remain rooted in the Word and let this shape our communication practices as we interact with one another in digital spaces.
Dr. Daniella Zsupan-Jerome is an Assistant Professor of Pastoral Theology at Saint John’s University School of Theology and Seminary. She received her B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, her M.A. in Religion and the Arts from Yale Divinity School, her M.A. in Liturgical Studies from Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary, and her Ph.D. from Boston College. Her research explores the intersection of social communication, digital culture, and pastoral theology. She has served as a consultant to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Communications, as an educational consultant to the Catholic Media Association, and as a tutor for the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communication Faith Communication in a Digital Age project. Her published works include several books on topics including Evangelization and Catechesis, Authority and Leadership, and the Digital Age of the Church and Social Communication. She is also a Benedictine oblate of Saint Joseph’s Abbey in Covington, Louisia
