Abstract
Beginning with an examination of the idea of purity in social systems,an endeavour which will tap into the framework from which develop an understanding of Jewish and Christian purity codes, this paper will explore Mark's position - particularly Mark 5:24-34 - regarding purity, and more specifically,Mark's presentation of Jesus' purity system relative to the Judaic system. Further, how does Mark's documenting of the miracle of the hemorrhaging woman reflect this system? What are its implications today?
