Abstract
This thesis demonstrates that co-existing ordines of the Roman Rite within the Latin Church, while perhaps beautifully diverse, ultimately communicate differing theologies that have themselves arisen due to natural theological shifts within the Church and that these conflicting theologies grow in prominence especially when the former ordo becomes less exceptional and more normative. These liturgical distinctions, rather than showcasing a beautiful richness of diversity, highlight an erroneous fracture within the visible and invisible communion of the Church.
