Abstract

One of the challenges for the priests providing pastoral care to the K'Ho people in the Diocese of Da Lat, Vietnam, is to help them preserve their culture and customs while remaining faithful to the teachings of the Church. Sometimes conflicts arise; for example, they often hold a wedding before celebrating the Sacrament of Marriage. This paper proposes an approach to the Sacrament of Matrimony while respecting the traditional marriage customs of the K'Ho people in the Diocese of Da Lat, Vietnam. The paper includes three parts: (1) The traditional marriage customs of the K’Ho people; (2) The challenges of pastors working in parishes in Da Lat Diocese; and (3) An approach to Catholic marriage for the K'Ho people in the Diocese of Da Lat.
