Abstract
Guatemala celebrates the feast of Cristo Negro de Esquipulas each year on January 15. This feast is another feast oftriumph ofthe Cross in the liturgical year in the Catholic Church in Guatemala and it is celebrated as custom and popular tradition is a small town of Esquipulas. In this essay I will present the history, the manner ofcelebration today, the use ofthe preface ofthe Triumph of the Cross for the celebration of the Mass, the problem that this feast presents for the Church in Guatemala, a reflection, conclusion and some recommendations for the celebration of the feast.
