Volume 4, Issue 2
(2020)
Welcome to Volume 4, Issue 2 of the Journal of Social Encounters (JSE). As readers will notice, this is a larger issue of the JSE than usual, with nine essays and eight book reviews. We thank all of our esteemed contributors for their high quality and informative essays and book reviews. The interdisciplinary character of the JSE is strongly reflected in this issue, with essays and book reviews covering a range of the humanities and social sciences. We are happy to note that five of the nine essays in this issue are about South Asia or Southeast Asia, a part of the world on which we hope to have more essays and book reviews in the future. We want to give a special thanks to JSE editorial board member Dr. Patricia Mische for organizing the Special Section on Peace Education in the Philippines. We also want to give a special thanks to Drs. Loreta Navarro-Castro and Jasmin Nario-Galace for their essays and for arranging free access to ebooks and other publications and resources of the Center for Peace Education at Miriam College. Dr. Mische wrote a review of two of the Center's ebooks.
We also want to extend a very special thanks to Ms. Sheila Hellermann, Assistant Editor of the JSE and the Office Manager for the Department of Peace Studies at the College of St. Benedict/St. John's University. Her talents, skills and tireless efforts make the publication of this journal possible.
