A Playground of Reading: Readers of and in Don Quixote

Abstract

My thesis took theoretical elements from the reader-response criticism of Wolfgang Iser, the poststructuralist criticism of Michel Foucault, and the comments of several other critics and applied them in a unique fashion to Cervantes' Don Quixote. In doing so, I demonstrated the ability to understand theoretical issues in literary criticism, apply them to a specific text, and place ideas within a historical tradition.
