Abstract
Exercise and sleep are important components of everyday life. Adequate sleep and exercise are vital to maintain a healthy lifestyle and avoid health complications such as diabetes and obesity. Moderate to high intensity exercise is linked with increased sleep quality and sleep duration. The purpose of this thesis was to determine the short- and long-term physiological mechanisms through which moderate intensity exercise improves sleep quality.
