Abstract
For the exhibition, I wanted to capture artistic growth from my first 2 years of college. In my work I use materials such as, acrylic paint, magazines, graphite, charcoal, colored paper, text, sharpies and prismacolors. A major part of my art is collages and black and white drawings. I love how collages allow me to be messy but create something so put together. I have noticed that I have a certain color pallet I use, which happens to be red, metallic colors, and black and white. I stick to black and white drawings/paintings simply because it allows me to practice my values and for some reason I feel that it allows me to capture detail better. My art is heavily impacted by pop culture, Mexican culture, texts (books, lyrics, poems.), life events, but in general, I find inspiration in the weirdest and simplest things.
