Abstract

This image shows a handmade artist book titled “Museum of Stones,” displayed vertically on a wooden table. The piece consists of a series of layered, oval-shaped paper panels connected in a cascading format. Each panel contains printed text, and the structure unfolds downward like a stacked or accordion-style booklet.

At the top, a black geometric holder secures the booklet. The upper panel reads “museum of stones,” followed by “poetry by carolyn forché” and “design by hailee thayer.” Below this, additional panels include the text “assembled in matchbox and tin.”

As the booklet continues downward, each panel presents short lines of poetry. Visible phrases include “schoolyard stones in the hand of a corpse,” followed by individual words or fragments such as “us,” “silence,” “to,” and “another,” arranged across separate panels. Additional text near the lower portion reads “from stars, a stillness of stones, a heart.”

At the bottom of the piece, small printed text indicates that the work was printed letterpress at the College of Saint Benedict by Hailee Thayer. A small illustration of a stone outline appears beneath the text, followed by “Spring 2022.”

The overall design combines physical structure and poetry, with each layer contributing both visual form and textual meaning.
