Abstract
Saint John's has had two major churches, one based on the Romanesque style, and the current one based on the aesthetics of the modern school of architecture as filtered through the famous Bauhaus School of Design in Germany. Brother David- Paul, associate professor of art at CSB/SJU and a monk, will speak about this history, the choice of Marcel Breuer as architect for this project, the innovative design of the current Abbey Church, and it’s influence on this community of worship.
