Abstract
Rachel will share a visual presentation about how she and her students use library special collections and art resources here at HMML and elsewhere to learn from and draw attention to our literary and artistic ancestors.0
Rachel Melis is an Associate Professor of Art at CSBSJU. She received her MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her BA from Grinnell College. Her prints, printed books, artist’s books, and installations focus on the lives of Midwestern women past and present—particularly how women’s work causes and reacts to social,
environmental, and biological transformations. Ms. Melis’ most-recent printed book is about to be exhibited in a nationally juried show at the Abecedarian Gallery in Denver, CO, and can be viewed at her website rachelmelis.com.
