Abstract

Watches tell one kind of time, our shoes another, if only we know how to read them. They can tell us a lot about Sarah Christie Stevens of Good Thunder, Minnesota, and about her times. Comparing her 19^th-century shoes with our own, we can also learn a lot about the past 100 years in Minnesota.
