Abstract
Civil society has an important role to play in every nation’s development. It is a representation of the articulation of group interests. Within political science and academic literature on Africa, civil society has enjoyed a recent renaissance. However, academic interest has not sufficiently dealt with the relationship between civil society and national development, particularly as this relationship relates to Africa. In this talk, the emphasis is on how civil society and national development are related in Nigeria. Data from Nigerian undergraduates serve as the foundation for this discussion.
