Abstract
Do gay men live longer than straight men? Do lesbians live longer with a life partner than heterosexual women whose husbands die at an earlier age? Where are the OLD gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people? Since 1989, Dr. Yoakam has been involved in research, professional education, community organization, and leadership on a national level in the field of GLBT aging. He will present his journey and discoveries about GLBT aging at this Friday Forum. He will use examples from film and literature, and his own and others’ research, to discuss what makes growing old gay particularly vital.
