Abstract
Old Testament figures drew lots to determine their leadership. Catholics raise money for parishes and schools through BINGO. The State sponsors lotteries, and the governor has threatened to organize casinos in competition with the Indian tribes' monopoly on casino gambling in Minnesota. In this presentation, Dr. Yoakam will examine the religious roots of attitudes towards gambling and current support for and opposition to the expansion of gambling. He will also discuss religious and spiritually based programs which address problem gambling.
