Boaters watch a Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) fishing next to a sand bar exposed by low water on the Cedar River, Black Hawk County, Iowa. Photo taken September 26, 2006. The sandbar is exposed owing to below-average rainfall during the preceding July and August, evidenced by weeds on the sand.
