Abstract
It’s not too late to gather with friends and prepare for Lent through a reflective writing practice. You are invited to join retreat leader and writer Carol Younger on Ash Wednesday to experience how writing in community can deepen your spiritual life. Participants in this interactive virtual presentation will have the opportunity to reflect on Scripture, do a timed writing exercise, and learn how they might form a writing group in their own place of worship. As Carol says, “If writing is a form of prayer, then writing groups are a prayer meeting. The Church is a great writing teacher.”
Carol Davis Younger is the editor of Reflections, a daily devotional guide published by NextSunday Resources. She thinks of the Church, an abundant source of inspiration, challenge, and possibility, as her favorite writing teacher. Carol has authored extensive curriculum for congregations and loves encouraging churches to practice the ministry of writing through writing groups. Carol and her husband, Brett, live in Brooklyn, NY, where he pastors Plymouth Church. They are part of the Collegeville Institute’s Communities of Calling Initiative.
