Abstract
The uses (and abuses) of poetry are many, but one especially meaningful function of poetry can be its role in a devotional life. This talk briefly discusses the history of the relationship of poetry and devotion, consider strategies for reading poetry devotionally, and introduce some poetic resources for devotional times. We will also read together several poems by Emily Dickinson and other poets.
