Abstract

Douglas A. Irwin, professor of economics at Dartmouth College, presented the 2021 Clemens lecture, “The Past, Present, and Future of Globalization,” at 8 PM on Monday, September 27, in the Stephen B. Humphrey Theater.

In addition to teaching at MIT and the University of Chicago, Irwin has worked for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the President’s Council of Economic Advisors. He has written several influential books. His Clashing over Commerce: A History of U.S. Trade Policy won several awards for excellence and has been rated among the “Best Books of the Year” by both The Economist and Foreign Affairs.
