Abstract

In essence, this paper explores the empirical, social psychological bases for continuity and change in our sense of self and others. Together with its two companion pieces--"Emerging in Love" and "Sacramental Moments," it aims at outlining some aspects of a philosophical anthropology which is sensitive to the quest of persons in our time for ultimate (i.e., religious) meaning and to the findings of contemporary theory and research in the social sciences.
