Abstract

A comparison of the research methods utilized by several authors as they elaborate on the biblical verses dealing with Jesus' calling of the disciples Simon, Andrew, James and John. A different approach dictates a variation in what the writer is able to observe about the subject, and the paper focuses on the extent and depth of meaning each writer is able to draw from his or her reading of the verses. Particular attention is given to the exegesis of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
