FRONT COVER: The Human Cost of War Photograph by Wendy Sterba
In February 2007, the American Friends Service Committee brought “Eyes Wide Open: An Exhibition on the Human Cost of the Iraq War” to the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University. Amidst civilian Iraqi shoes, 44 pairs of boots stood in silent repose, each memorializing a Minnesotan lost in Iraq.
