Abstract

For centuries, the Rule of Benedict has been the foundation for sustainable Christian communities. Its unique mix of traditional monastic spiritual teaching and practical arrangements for the common life continues to guide monastic communities. The Rule has also attracted many beyond the cloister who are seeking a spiritual path within their various forms of Christian life. This presentation will explore the key elements of the Rule with an emphasis on their perennial relevance.
